With the new open and flexible solution provided by Comarch the major benefits for the customer include centralized and unified management of its multi-vendor transmission network and low total cost of ownership. Currently Comarch InsightNet covers over 20 000 network elements at O2 Germany.

The project included the implementation of three modules of Comarch InsightNet OSS platform: InsightNet Fault Management, InsightNet Configuration Management and InsightNet Performance Management. “Introduction of Comarch InsightNet is a major step in operations optimization by integrating the management of our transmission technologies into one homogeneous platform” – says Gьnter Kaufmann, Head of Operation Support Systems at O2 Germany.

The system is deployed in the Network Surveillance Center and manages telecommunications transmission networks and is responsible for supervision functions in the areas of fault management as well as configuration and performance management. All Regional Back Offices of O2 now have the access to the system through the graphical consoles.

The project for O2 consisted of four stages and was commenced in July 2003. Comarch used open technologies during the project (XML/XSL, Java etc.) which assured quick and smooth integration with other sub-systems. In particular, the benefits included short development time and reduced work effort (about 70% effort saved in comparison to legacy technologies), easy deployment and simple way of implementing changes. Modern technologies used to develop InsightNet assured the full integration of all the IT systems at O2 Germany and the efficient flow of information among different platforms and systems.

Comarch InsightNet solutions based on J2EE, Plug-and-Play architecture, RMI (Java), JMS/Event Service, have already been deployed by Terra Telecommunications (USA), Enitel (Nicaragua), the Polish largest mobile carrier Era GSM, the biggest mobile operator in Ukraine (UMC) and many other telecommunications companies.

O2 (Germany) GmbH & Co. OHG, a subsidiary of mmO2 plc, offers its post-pay and pre-pay customers almost blanket coverage through the own mobile communications network and a roaming agreement with T-Mobile. Comarch InsightNet is a solution that enables integrated corporate and telecommunications network management. It has been designed to keep the IT infrastructure operating at optimal levels by fast and reliable data collection, useful analysis of the collected data and by planning and execution of the optimal load balances. Comarch InsightNet is capable of dealing with typical and less frequent problems occurring in the network and provides the necessary security and quality assurance. The information about the network is visualised on the graphical consoles.
