Telefnica to run LTE trial with Nokia Siemens Networks

Nokia Siemens Networks has been selected to participate in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) trial in the Czech Republic, as part of LTE trials that Telefnica will be running in about half a dozen countries in Europe and Latin America. During the six-month trial, Nokia Siemens Networks will demonstrate its end-to-end LTE solution that allows operators to offer a completely new mobile experience to their customers.

“We expect this trial with Telefnica to demonstrate the potential for our LTE to deliver an entirely new broadband mobile experience,” said Carlos Reines, head of the corporate Customer Business Team for Telefnica at Nokia Siemens Networks. “We are one of the main partners for Telefnica in the deployment of mobile radio networks around the world.”

”We have a long and successful track record of collaboration in the Czech Republic and have provided 2G and 3G technology for Telefnica CZ,” Reines said.

The two companies have also been focusing on LTE development. In November 2008, Telefnica and Nokia Siemens Networks pioneered the development of LTE technology by performing the first live LTE call to an Telefnica WCDMA mobile device. During an event held in London, Telefnica and Nokia Siemens Networks successfully demonstrated the usage of high data rate applications, such as data downloading, online gaming and High Definition video streaming, which demands low latency and increased data rates.

LTE greatly improves the consumer experience for mobile data applications with faster response times and throughput, much reduced latency and peak rates of up to 173/58 Mbps (downlink/uplink). LTE supports mobile broadband access for applications such as browsing, email, video-sharing, music downloads and many more. Such services can be provided either by the operator or accessed from third parties via the Internet.

A new flat network architecture, which is scalable and cost-effective, supports mobile broadband multimedia services with extremely high data rates and is ready for handling the anticipated 100-fold traffic growth.

Nokia Siemens Networks LTE end-to-end solution is based on the Evolved Packet Core and the Flexi Base Station, which is already being deployed and will require only a software upgrade from 2G/3G to LTE.

In September 2009 Nokia Siemens Networks completed the world’s first LTE call using a commercial base station and fully standard compliant software. In October 2009, Nokia Siemens Networks conducted the world’s first LTE handover test.

Критика справедливая. Сайт не поддерживает UTF, а в слове Telefonica должна быть буковка o с умляутом или как_там_это_называется (со значком ударения). В заголовке я ее на O волюнтаристски поменял, а в тексте уже сил не хватило. Не судите строго, лучше я что-нибудь еще успею, чем буду эти буковки проставлять.
