Nokia Siemens Networks wins Unitech Wireless’ contract to build and manage its mobile network

Press Release, Delhi, India – October 12, 2009, via MForum.ru. Nokia Siemens Networks wins Unitech Wireless’ contract to build and manage its mobile network in six telecom circles*

Nokia Siemens Networks has won Unitech Wireless’ contract to supply GSM network for the company’s operations in six circles that include Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Nokia Siemens Networks will also be responsible for network operation and maintenance as a part of the Managed Services contract with the mobile operator.

The network will be built using Nokia Siemens Networks’ Flexi BTS platform, which is the industry’s smallest and most energy-efficient mobile base station today. It enables service providers to provide excellent coverage to subscribers using a minimal number of base stations, helping them reduce their CO2 footprint and save on energy costs. The future-proof Flexi BTS platform is 3G and LTE-ready, and thus enables a smooth migration to new technologies. In addition, Nokia Siemens Networks is deploying its mobile softswitching solution, which can bring savings in operating expenses of up to 70%.

Nokia Siemens Networks will also provide its full range of services: Network Implementation to build the network, Consulting and Systems Integration to provide network design and ensure smooth interworking with Unitech Wireless’ existing infrastructure, Care for fault management and Managed Services for efficient network management.
